Is anyone interested in starting an A2 Website Working group? or have ideas on how to improve it?
The website is terrible and can deter new members or new students…
We can flesh out a new design & organization of content to make it more user-friendly and accessible.
What we have now is built / hosted on squarespace. I’m not sure whether that’s limiting our design options, or whether SS offers a way to draft a redesign that can be fully developed and reviewed before pushing to the live image.
I just learned from Michael Shia that we’ve submitted a grant for substantial $$ for WS upgrades – no idea on the odds of receiving it (this is the WS and content creation - Nexudus replacement is separate thing)
I’m open to helping out on this front - I used to do web dev (a long time ago), and have friends who do professional web development.
Most recently I’ve been working on self-hosting Wagtail websites, which has a similar feeling to SquareSpace and WordPress.
I have a set up for Wagtail to generate static pages for nginx to serve, secure “admin” pages, user pages, and I have started to loop in single-sign-on with it.
spoke to him about this; regardless of whether we win it or not, efforts to propose a new website would be helpful. If we win, we hand off all the materials to the person designing it (I believe it has to be someone internal to A2), if not, then we propose to staff.
